Release Maturity
PhoenixAI labels every database kernel release with a maturity stage to show how production-ready a version is, what level of support it carries, and whether it's the right fit for your workload.
PhoenixAI database kernel releases have four maturity levels:
- Private Preview
- Public Preview
- Generally Available (GA)
- Stable
A release moves through these stages as it matures, and reaches End-of-Life (EOL) eventually.
Maturity is tracked at two levels — the release (the database kernel version as a whole, for example, v4.0) and individual features inside a release. This page covers release-level maturity. For feature-level maturity, see Feature Maturity.
Private Preview releases
Private Preview releases are the earliest access to a new release, offered to a limited set of customers for early evaluation.
- Interface: Capabilities and interfaces may be changed.
- Production readiness: No
- SLA: No
- Intended user: Customers who want the earliest look and are working closely with us, in non-production environments.
Public Preview releases
Public Preview releases are open to all customers on an opt-in basis. Documented and supported for evaluation.
- Interface: Capabilities and interfaces may still be changed in the future.
- Production readiness: No
- SLA: No
- Intended user: Anyone who wants to evaluate new capabilities and provide feedback, in non-production environments.
GA releases
GA releases have passed the full production-readiness and regression testing and are backed by PhoenixAI's complete SLA.
- Interface: Stable API
- Production readiness: Yes
- SLA: Yes
- Intended user: Customers who want the default recommendation for all production workloads.
Stable releases
Stable releases are in the most validated state: a GA release that has additionally been hardened through extended time in production across many deployments.
- Interface: Stable API
- Production readiness: Yes
- SLA: Yes
- Intended user: Customers with the most demanding, mission-critical workloads where maximum stability is the priority.
How to choose a version
For most production workloads, GA is the right choice — it is fully tested, fully supported, and carries the complete SLA.
If your workload is mission-critical and you prioritize maximum stability over access to the newest capabilities, choose a Stable release once one is designated.
Use Public Preview release to evaluate upcoming capabilities and give us feedback — but not for production, as preview releases do not carry an SLA.
Version status and end-of-life
PhoenixAI maintains a published view of every version and its current status (Stable / GA / Public Preview / End-of-Life), so you can always see where your version stands.
When a version reaches End-of-Life (EOL), it is no longer covered by an SLA. We provide advance notice before any version reaches EOL and work with you on an upgrade path. We recommend staying on a GA or Stable release to retain full support coverage.
